Graduate Student Funding Opportunities

Below you will find a list of funding opportunities available to graduate students across the University. Please note that these funding opportunities come in several forms and you should make sure you understand the type of position to which you are applying:

IMPORTANT: The majority of Villanova鈥檚 funding opportunities for graduate students come from the departments, and most graduate programs on campus have departmental funding. The positions listed on this page require a separate application process, and are outside of academic departments in various centers, offices, and institutes across campus. Please read the descriptions, deadlines, and application requirements listed here carefully鈥攅specially since each one is different.

Please keep in mind that if you are an applicant to a graduate program and have not yet received an admission decision you can proceed in applying to the below positions. However, if you are not admitted to the graduate program of your choice at any point during the application process for the below funding opportunities your application for funding will no longer be considered.
 

SPRING 2026 OPENINGS

  • Description: The Center for Research and Fellowships (CRF) administers three areas of programming at 麻豆村: undergraduate research, nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships, and the Presidential Scholars Program (PSP). CRF seeks two year-round, hourly (15-20 hours per week) graduate student Grants and Fellowships Consultants beginning in Fall 2025. The successful candidates must have strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills and a commitment to working with undergraduate students.鈥疻hile all graduate students are invited to apply, CRF is particularly interested in incoming graduate students who can remain in the position for two years. This position does not come with a tuition waiver. The Grants and Fellowships Consultant will have numerous opportunities to develop their professional skills through writing, editing, project management, event planning, and advising students. The Grants and Fellowships Consultant will work in the following areas:鈥 1.鈥疦ationally Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships a. Student advising: Review personal statements and essays and meet with students to discuss application materials. b. Assist in outreach and recruitment of candidates for external scholarships and fellowships, such as the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and other awards. c. Update CRF promotional materials. 2.鈥疭tudent Research Programs a. Assist in outreach and application preparation for candidates for research opportunities, such as the internal Villanova Undergraduate Research Fellowship (VURF) Program and external summer research programs. b. Support various programming events, including professional development workshops for undergraduates and the autumn Student Research Symposium. 3.鈥疨residential Scholars Program (PSP) a. Support PSP events, including the Presidential Scholars Interview Program (February), Summer Academy pre-orientation program, and student events during the year.鈥

  • Work Hours Per Week: 15-20 hrs/week. Graduate Assistant Hourly (GAH) (no tuition remission, hourly pay at the standardized rates of $18/hr for masters level and $21/hr for doctoral level).

  • Description: 麻豆村鈥檚 College of Professional Studies educates learners of all ages, including high school students and those preparing to enter college. The Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) gives rising high school juniors and seniors, as well as incoming college freshmen, the opportunity to experience an immersive, multifaceted introduction to college life.

The program is growing, and we are seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) to play a key role in supporting and enhancing the Academy. This position spans research, communication, professional development, program planning, budgeting, and team management.

10% Communications & Customer Service:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families.
  • Ensure all inquiries receive a clear and timely response (within one business day).

30% Planning & Budgeting:

  • Design the overall program schedule, including:
  • Off-campus excursions and travel
  • On-campus recreational activities
  • Visits to Villanova鈥檚 different colleges
  • Meals
  • Manage and monitor program expenses to stay within budget.
  • Coordinate logistics with Villanova鈥檚 Office of Conference Services (space reservations, meal scheduling, dorm assignments, etc.).

30% Team Hiring, Training, and Management:

  • Lead the hiring process for Academic Mentors, including scheduling interviews, making hiring recommendations, and ensuring HR approval before summer recess.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director, Personal Enrichment and Summer Sessions, to design and deliver a weeklong Academic Mentor training.
  • Manage and support the Academic Mentor team during the program, ensuring:
  • Students receive appropriate support and services
  • Evening check-ins are completed with 100% accuracy
  • Campus leave policies are strictly enforced

20% PCAC 1000: College Pathways:

  • Work with the Director, Academic Advising and Student Support, to schedule class visits with various offices across campus.
  • Serve as a resource for these individuals in their preparation and day of logistics
  • Collect bios, slides to post on Blackboards
  • Prepare and distribute thank you 鈥 swag bags for each presenter
  • Lead Academic Mentors in curriculum planning for mentor session
  • Guide them in lesson planning, providing ubiquitous content they can adapt to their student needs
  • Review lesson plans as needed, offer feedback in classroom management, etc.
  • In collaboration with Director, Academic Advising and Student Support, observe mentors and provide feedback
  • Liaise between Academic Mentors and Director, Academic Advising and Student Support
  • Regular communication regarding updates, issues, students, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable of the course assignments and structure to answer common questions

10% Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Programs team.
  • Eligibility: Bachelor鈥檚 degree required. Currently in a master鈥檚 program, preferably in higher education, counseling or related field.
  • Qualifications:
    • Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as well as strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Proficiency in standard computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Familiarity with Airtable is a plus.
    • This individual must follow high standards of discretion and confidentiality.
    • A deep commitment to the mission of the College of Professional Studies and to 麻豆村鈥檚 Catholic and Augustinian values is essential.

 

  • Detailed Work Schedule: The Graduate Assistant position requires a significant time commitment:

January 12 鈥 June 12, 2026: Program preparation (~10 hours/week)

June 23 鈥 29, 2026: Academic Mentor training (~40 hours/week)

June 30 鈥 July 30, 2026: Program (~40 hours/week, including weekends)

The GA is required to live on campus and be available 24/7 during the program dates.

  • Description: The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking a graduate student to provide research, technical and creative content support to enhance the experience of our 135,000+ alumni community. In turn, the Digital Engagement and Research Assistant will gain valuable real-world experience in a fast-paced office environment. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct regular research in higher education alumni engagement on topics such as general best practices; benchmarking against peers; industry trends; and other special research projects as requested.
  • Create social media graphics in Canva and assist in capturing campus/event photography or video for social media, as needed. Offer content suggestions from a young alumni perspective.
  • Manage select Aventri forms and reports, and ensure data is provided to internal and campus partners in a timely manner. Test forms and event websites for Alumni Relations team members.
  • Supports administration of the Nova Network platform, such as managing approval queues, posting HireNova Updates and other relevant digital engagement content to the discussion tab or groups, etc.

  • Description: This Tuition Scholar will work with the St. Thomas of 麻豆村 in creating a comprehensive Community Partner database. This includes coordinating a database and the Villanova Service Hub (also known as VHub, a GivePulse platform) and liaison with community partners to confirm necessary information. Ideally the scholar will also help with VHub trainings and formation for participants in community engagement opportunities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is passionate about community engagement work that includes data tracking.

SUMMER 2026 OPENINGS

  • Description: The College of Professional Studies (CPS) is looking for enthusiastic undergraduate mentors to support the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA), an immersive program that gives high school students a firsthand look at college life. As a mentor, you鈥檒l work on a team to help build a positive, engaging experience for students while developing your own leadership and community-building skills.
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) team with the development and implementation of engaging and educational activities for high school and incoming college students.
    • Abide by and uphold program policies; address safety and community concerns as they arise and refer to campus partners when appropriate.
    • Live in the residence hall and supervise students throughout the duration of the program.
    • Lead and participate in social activities鈥攂oth on and off campus鈥攁s part of the program experience.
    • Co-facilitate one section of PCAC 1000 by developing and leading workshops focused on personal growth and community service, as well as grading assignments and providing constructive feedback.

  • Description: The Lepage Center offers funding for Villanova undergraduate and graduate students to develop their professional skills with paid summer internships. We partner with historical organizations across the country, providing Lepage interns with first-rate experiences working on projects that serve the public interest.

Internships are open to current and graduating students. Interns work full-time (35 hours per week) for at least eight weeks. The stipend for undergraduate internships is $5,000 while graduate interns receive $6,000. Stipends are intended to cover housing, travel and daily living expenses.

FALL 2026 OPENINGS

  • Description: The Graduate Assistant (GA) provides holistic support to a diverse population of students in the Center for Access, Success, and Achievement which include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in organizing and implementing CASA Retention and Programming Events.
  • Provide support to enrolled CASA Students.

  • Description: This is a unique opportunity to work in two student-facing departments at 麻豆村 for 20 hours a week in exchange for tuition remission and a monthly stipend. The candidate in this position will work 10 hours in the CASA office. This position is for administrative support and assistance to the Director for the Center for Access, Success, and Achievement and the office at large, as needed and including all operations related to the CASA Lending Library, general office tasks. This position also works 10 a week with the Coordinator of the Service and Social Justice Experience Program in the office of Campus Ministry, assisting with all necessary operations of the program.

    Specific responsibilities for CASA:

  • Description: The Graduate Student Outreach Assistant position works in the Ellis Center to manage outreach efforts for the office including development of social media content, newsletters and communications to undergraduate students, and co-advisement of a student group. The position will also support the office through providing front desk coverage for the office, assessing and directing student, faculty, and staff inquiries to the office. This position offers the opportunity for the graduate student to gain practical experience in a center that offers academic advising, retention/student support, professional development, health professions advising, and academic operations. This is a Combination of TS and GAH position (tuition remission plus hourly pay).

  • Description: The鈥疓raduate鈥疉ssistant鈥(GA) focused on Professional Development and Internships in The Ellis Center | Office for Professional Development in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) will help to direct the Peer Career Coaching Program, which includes hiring, onboarding, training, supervising, and evaluating the success of undergraduate peer career coaches who meet one-on-one with fellow students to provide peer career professional development support. 鈥 Additionally, the GA will meet with undergraduate students to discuss their personal career and professional development goals to provide individual r茅sum茅 and other professional correspondence reviews, help students to understand why networking and mentorship matter and can benefit their career growth, and work with students to craft career plans based on their unique educational and professional pursuits. The GA will also attend virtual and in-person student career and professional development events, and often help to plan and organize them, as well as complete other related tasks as assigned, supporting administrative and communication needs of the Office for Professional Development.   • Description: The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) is a paraprofessional member of the Office for Residence Life. Responsibilities include the overseeing of daily operations of assigned hall(s), including student staff supervision, building maintenance, planning and implementing community building efforts, policy enforcement, and crisis intervention. GRDs serve in the primary on-call rotation after hours. In addition, each GRD will be given one collateral assignment in the Office for Residence Life based on interest, experience, and skills. GRDs are supervised by the Area Coordinator for Residence Management for their designated area. This is a Full Graduate Assistantship (tuition remission, stipend, on-campus apartment, and meal plan in exchange for 20 hours of work per week).
  • Eligibility: Bachelor鈥檚 degree required. Must be enrolled in a full-time Graduate Program at 麻豆村. The GRD is a part-time, 10-month, live-in position. Undergraduates and Law Students are not eligible to apply. GRDs may not hold any other compensatory position on or off campus during the academic year; exceptions may be made for academic internships and practicums.

  • Description: The Office for Residence Life strives to create a welcoming residential community and to maintain a comfortable and safe environment for students residing in our residence halls. Resident Assistants are crucial to the success of these goals. Resident Assistants are the university鈥檚 representatives to resident students, and consequently, they have broad responsibilities extending to all areas of the students鈥 physical, social, academic, and emotional well-being. As such, the Office for Residence Life expects that students accepting these positions will exercise high standards of moral and ethical conduct in their performance both on and off campus and follow all university and residence life policies.

  • Description: The Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs will serve as a member of the three-person Campus Programming team which is comprised of the Assistant Director for Campus Programs and two Graduate Assistants for Campus Programs. Together, this team will be responsible for providing late night programming on campus through coordinated efforts from the Office of Student Involvement. Additionally, the Graduate Assistant for Campus Programs assists in the advising of 麻豆村鈥檚 student run programming board (Campus Activities Team 鈥 鈥淐AT鈥) that is responsible for large and small scale, alcohol free, and/or alternative late-night programming for the undergraduate 麻豆村 community. The Office of Student Involvement is an exciting and busy work environment with multiple peak periods of work activity across the calendar year. Due to the timing of programming, it is to be expected that meetings and events will be scheduled beyond traditional work hours. The Graduate Assistant is expected to work into evenings and on weekends throughout the academic year. This GA will also be responsible for assisting with the oversite of Villanova鈥檚 鈥淪enior Week鈥, under the direction of the Assistant Director, and will assist with other large-scale programming initiatives sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement including Welcome Week, Family Weekend, and high-risk weekend programming.

Description: The Graduate Assistant for Leadership Programs supports the Office of Student Involvement in advancing leadership, service, and experiential learning initiatives that align with departmental and University goals. This position provides hands-on experience in program management, student development, and leadership education.

Primary Responsibilities

Villanova Leadership Program (VLP)

  • Oversee all aspects of the Villanova Leadership Program, fostering student connection and growth through weekly workshops, lectures, and community-building experiences
  • Manage curriculum development, marketing, registration, data tracking, website content, and program assessment
  • Supervise and mentor the VLP Executive Board, including assigning responsibilities and leading weekly meetings

Villanova Challenge Course (VCC)

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Challenge Course, including program promotion, facilitator recruitment and training, reservations, and group programming
  • Oversee risk management, course maintenance, inventory, payroll, and assessment
  • Ensure all Challenge Course operations comply with Qualified Course Professional (QCP) standards and inspection guidelines

Special Olympics Fall Festival (Fall Fest)

  • Support the planning and implementation of the Special Olympics Fall Festival, the world鈥檚 largest student-run Special Olympics event, serving more than 1,000 athletes and 6,000 volunteers annually
  • Assist the Associate Director in supervising and mentoring the student leadership team

Departmental and Campus Support

  • Assist with OSI signature events, including Welcome Week, Involvement Fairs, Family Weekend, Food Truck Fridays, Campus Activities Team (CAT) events, and Fall Fest Weekend
  • Support student organization re-registration processes, analyze organizational data trends, and present findings to advisors
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of The Rev. John Stack, OSA Leadership Series

Qualifications:

鈥 Bachelor鈥檚 degree required.

鈥 Must be enrolled full-time in a 麻豆村 graduate degree program beginning Fall 2026.

鈥 Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) skills.

鈥 Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working collaboratively with students and professional staff.

鈥 Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Expectations:

鈥 Maintain regular meetings with the Associate Director of Student Involvement to discuss ongoing projects and goals.

鈥 Attend monthly OSI all-staff meetings.

鈥 Actively participate in professional development and relevant student affairs conferences.

鈥 Complete additional special projects as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits:

鈥 Annual stipend of $21,500*

Tuition remission for up to 18 credits per academic year**

鈥 One-time $500 startup grant for professional materials or resources

Position dates: July 29, 2026 鈥 May 4, 2027. This assistantship is renewable for a second year, and candidates are expected to commit to a two-year appointment, contingent upon satisfactory performance.

  • Description: The Graduate Assistant for the Sophomore Service-Learning Community (SSLC) will work closely with the Assistant Director of Experiential Learning, student leaders, and campus partners to engage students in meaningful service-learning experiences. The GA will support the mission of the SSLC by organizing and implementing community events, recruitment initiatives, and student leadership development programs. This role also includes teaching a one-credit integrating seminar, working directly with community partners to enhance student engagement in service-learning, and fostering a supportive learning environment for students. The GA will play a key role in event planning, mentorship, and program assessment while supporting the growth of Villanova鈥檚 Service-Learning Communities.
