A Bravo Zulu (Navy speak for βwell doneβ) is in order for Adm. Samuel J. Paparo Jr. β87 CLAS, who took the helm as commander of the US Navy Pacific Fleet. The four-star admiral became the 26th commander of US Indo-Pacific Command at Camp H.M. Smith in Halawa, Hawaii, in a ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam's Kilo Pier on April 30.

Longest-Tenured Athletic Director Mourned
Remembered as a standout Villanova quarterback who later served 19 years as the Universityβs Director of Athletics, Ted Aceto, PhD, β63 CLAS, β65 MA, died July 1, 2021. He was 82.
Aceto led the Athletic Department from 1974 until 1993. During his tenure, Villanova entered the Big East conference in 1980 and won the NCAA Menβs Basketball championship in 1985. The Menβs Indoor Track and Field team and Womenβs Cross Country also won national championships in 1979 and 1989, respectively.
βIn the course of nearly two decades, Dr. Aceto guided our department into the modern era of college athletics. He was instrumental in bringing Villanova into the Big East and helping the conference quickly make its mark on the national scene,β says Villanova Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Jackson.
A student-athlete himself, Dr. Aceto attended Villanova on a football scholarship and was the Wildcatsβ quarterback for the teamβs appearances in the 1961 Sun Bowl and 1962 Liberty Bowl.
The Athletic Director's Conference Room in Jake Nevin Field House was renamed in honor of the Aceto family in 2019.
