A. Owen Klein β59 CLAS and Jeanne Miclot Klein β61 MAΜύcelebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple met as graduate students at Villanova and were married two years later at the University of Notre Dame, where Owen taught. They have three children and four grandchildren.

John (Marc) Goodman β74 CWSL was elected for a sixth term as county attorney, Lyon County, Kan. He served as president of the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association in 2018.

Deborah M. Lerner, Esq., β77 CWSL , an employee benefits attorney with the Philadelphia law firm Willig, Williams and Davidson, has been selected along with four of her colleagues by American Law Media as 2021 Women Leaders in the Law. She has also been named a 2021 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.

Bruce Levin, DPM, β78 CLAS has practiced podiatry for 35 years in New Jersey and Arizona. He is now embarking on a new career as a real estate agent for RE/MAX Fine Properties in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mark Redmond β79 VSB published his latest book, Called: A Memoir, about his years at Villanova followed by four decades of working with homeless and at-risk teenagers and young adults in New York City, Connecticut and now in Vermont.

Capt. Jeremy Rifflard β84 VSB retired from the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department after 27 years of service. He was a member of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue team (FL TF2) that responded to natural disasters such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Michael (Mexico Beach), among other major incidents.
Villanova Law alum Stephanie Resnick β84 CWSL has another accolade to add to her award-winning career. The managing partner at Fox Rothschild LLP was presented with the prestigious 2021 Judge Learned Hand Award by the American Jewish Committee (AJC) of Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey. The award is presented to an exemplary attorney for years of service, contributions to the legal profession and commitment to the community, whose advocacy has advanced democratic values, pluralism and mutual understanding which mirrors AJCβs mission.

Jody Alessandrine Jr. β85 CLAS was appointed the director and CEO of Cape May MAC (Museums + Arts + Culture) in February 2020. He serves as the chairman of the board of directors of Values Into Action New Jersey.
1987
Stevie A. Falk, PhD, β87 CLAS has taken a new job with Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as a staff psychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. This change came after 12 years as the director of counseling at Lebanon Valley College. She will be working directly with medical students, residents and fellows in the Office of Professional Mental Health at Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine
A Bravo Zulu (Navy speak for βwell doneβ) is in order for Adm. Samuel J. Paparo Jr. β87 CLAS, who took the helm as commander of the US Navy Pacific Fleet. The four-star admiral became the 26th commander of US Indo-Pacific Command at Camp H.M. Smith in Halawa, Hawaii, in a ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam's Kilo Pier on April 30.
1989
Denise Travis Coughlin, PhD, β89 CLAS received the 2021 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellorβs Award for Teaching Excellence. For 25 years, she has served Clinton Community College as a professor of Human Services and Sociology. Married since 1993, Denise and her husband, Michael, are the proud parents of two young adults.
Thomas C. Farrell β89 CLAS, a Philadelphia native and CEO of The WorkShop Content Studios, won in the Best Sports Documentary Program category at the 11th Annual Real Screen Awards for the Netflix series Basketball or Nothing.
A former student-athlete on the Villanova Football team tackles important issues with honesty and a positive outlook in his memoir Race Against...Against Race. Bo-Dean Sanders β89 CLAS, who proudly wore number 42 during his Wildcat gridiron days, shares the story of his college journey and lessons learned about diversity and inclusion as he found his place on campus.

Daniel Cummins β90 CLAS, who recently celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of Cummins Law, was selected for inclusion for the sixth consecutive year in the 2021 edition of The Best Lawyers in America under the category of Personal InjuryβDefense. He was also named a 2020 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters.

Jeannine Loehr β92 CLAS, a recipient of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation scholarship, graduated magna cum laude with a nursing degree from J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College on May 15. In July, she began a new position at HCA Chippenham HospitalβMedical Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

The Women to Watch Awards, conferred in partnership with the AIPCA, recognize the dedication and leadership of women who exemplify an extraordinary commitment to the accounting profession.
This yearβs Oscars were memorable for Anthony Giacchino β92 CLAS, who took home a statuette for Best Documentary Short Subject. The film Colette, which he wrote and directed, follows a 90-year-old Frenchwoman on an emotional trip to the former Nazi concentration camp in Germany where her brother was murdered in 1945. βWhile making the film, I learned that only 1 percent of the French population had actively resisted the Nazi occupation before the Normandy Invasion, and Colette β as a young girl β was one of those resisters,β Giacchino says. βSeven full decades beyond the events of Coletteβs youth, the warβs aftermath remains as a dramatic, living thing to filmically explore.β

Agostino Steven Fabietti β93 VSB joined the firm Hyland Levin Shapiro LLP in New Jersey as a partner, continuing his concentration in corporate counseling and business transactions, transactional real estate and finance, and estate planning and administration.
Jeanne L. Alhusen, PhD, β93 FCN, an associate professor at the University of Virginia School of Nursing, earned a $1.9 million National Institute of Health grant to evaluate access women with disabilities have to reproductive health care. This award comes shortly after the distinguished nurse scientist was appointed UVA School of Nursingβs new associate dean for Research.

Katherine M. Katchen β94 CLAS has joined Robinson+Cole as counsel in the firmβs Managed Care + Employee Benefits Litigation group. She has more than 20 years of litigation experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation matters, particularly in the area of managed care and insurance. She will be resident in the firmβs Philadelphia office.
David M. Seminara, β94 VSB had two books published by Post Hill Press in 2021: Footsteps of Federer: A Fanβs Pilgrimage Across 7 Swiss Cantons in 10 Acts, a funny and perceptive journey around Switzerland in Roger Federerβs footsteps; and Mad Travelers: A Tale of Wanderlust, Greed & the Quest to Reach the Ends of the Earth, centered around the true story of a young con artist who scammed many of the worldβs most traveled people.

Christian Giudice β97 CLAS recently published his fourth book, Macho Time: The Meteoric Rise and Tragic Fall of Hector Camacho. His three previous biographies were written about Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello and Wilfredo Gomez.

Michael Rinaldi β99 CLAS has joined Duane Morris LLP as a partner in the firmβs Trial Practice Group in its Philadelphia office. Before joining Duane Morris, Rinaldi served as deputy chief of the Economic Crimes Unit of the US Attorneyβs Office in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Bonnie A. Young β99 CWSL has been elevated to partner in the Labor and Employment Department at Fox Rothschild LLP. She concentrates her practice in personnel and labor relations for public school entities and private sector clients.
David Yusko β99 CLAS authored a new book, Gag Reflections: Conquering a Fear of Vomit Through Exposure Therapy, which explores his work with a patient who suffered from emetophobia, disproportionate fear of vomit. This book, co-written with his patient, provides fellow emetophobes with validation, hope and inspiration; it also serves as a useful guide for therapists whose patients suffer from specific phobias of all types.

Gregory Lingo β00 MBA wrote and produced the comedy film Last Call, which was released on March 19. The movie stars Jeremy Piven, Taryn Manning, Bruce Dern and Jamie Kennedy.

After losing the use of his legs in a 1995 motor vehicle accident, Sean OβDonnell β00 COE is spreading his wings and flying high as a pilot. Itβs a dream heβs had since childhood and, thanks to a scholarship from Ableflight.org, he received his pilotβs license in 2007. Now he shares his passion for aviation as a mentor and motivational speaker. Last summer, he made the news for performing a flyover to honor the therapists, doctors and nurses serving the needs of persons with disabilities throughout the pandemic.

Not only did he help Wawa become part of the national pop culture lexicon, Brad Ingelsby β02 VSB gave viewers something to binge-watch this spring as the creator ofΜύMare of Easttown. Garnering 16 Emmy nominations, the gripping HBO series about a small-town Pennsylvania detective whoβs investigating a local murder while her life crumbles around her starred Kate Winslet (who deserves an Emmy nomination just for nailing the Delaware County accent). A Berwyn, Pa., native, Ingelsby had his eye on a career in business until taking a screenwriting class at Villanova. After graduation, he went on to study at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, and the rest is history.

Jennifer C. Walsh β06 VSB published the historical fiction novel I Am Defiance: A Novel of WWII, which explores the power of thinking for yourself in the fight against hatred. It follows a real-life youth resistance group in Germany during the Second World War

Michael Thomas β07 COE was elevated to the new role of national practice leader for site/land development by Urban Engineers after successfully serving as deputy practice leader and senior project manager at Urban over the last eight years. He specializes in land development and site design for commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and recreational clients throughout the continental United States.
John P. Wixted β07 CLAS was elected partner at Blank Rome LLP, effective Jan. 1, in the firmβs Philadelphia office. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, counseling clients on matters involving contract disputes and business torts, real estate, consumer class actions, mergers and acquisitions, professional liability, trade secrets and other intellectual property disputes, products liability defense and appellate litigation. He has also provided pro bono representation to clients in prisoner civil rights matters and in the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Michelle Parziale β13 COE and her husband, Brian Elliott, welcomed their first son, Jonathan, on March 15. In addition, she graduated from the Tufts University Gordon Institute with an MS in Engineering Management.

Candee Wilde β14 CWSL was recently appointed the next executive director of the Delaware Valley Environmental American Inn of Court (DVE-AIC), the second person to hold the post since DVE-AIC organized in 1996. In her new position, Wilde, an attorney with the Philadelphia-based firm Greenberg Traurig, will support DVE-AIC functions and programs and ensure continuity for the elected executive board, which rotates annually.
2015
John Cooper β15 CPS married husband John Coleman in Chicago on Sept. 27, 2019. Also, in January, he founded Cooper Coleman LLC, an executive search and advisory firm to support the social sector, along with pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Leadership at Thomas Edison State University in New Jersey.
Ellie Malfaro β15 CLAS was selected by the Philadelphia Mayorβs Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service for the Mayorβs Distinguished National Service Alumni Award, which recognizes AmeriCorps, Senior Corps or Peace Corps alumni who continue to devote their lives to making a difference through service. Currently, sheβs studying nursing at the University of Puerto Rico in a bilingual context and will be training at the Mayo Clinic this summer in the operating room.
Amassing an impressive wardrobe of superhero costumes, Mayank Amin, PharmD, β15 MBA has often donned a cape to bring some levity and laughter to patients during a difficult year. The mild-mannered owner of the independent Skippack Pharmacy, Dr. Mak, as heβs more commonly known, quickly flew into action vaccinating patients to help crush this pandemic. And he wasn't alone... Jennifer Speer Mondillo, PhD, MSN, MBA, CRNP clinical assistant professor, M. Louise, Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, served as lead clinical vaccine coordinator on Dr. Mak's COVID-19 Task Force, which also included an amazing team of Villanova Nursing volunteers.
Some bright news came for Simone Holland β15 CLAS when she received Mural Arts Philadelphiaβs inaugural Black Artist Fellowship in June 2020. Chosen among a cohort of 20, the visual artist and director is using the opportunity to pursue her creative storytelling, which she says βaims to create safe spaces and continues to amplify disenfranchised voices.β
Profiled by Forbes in March, Kai Cunningham β16 VSB is garnering attention for early professional accomplishments helping athletes and entertainers avoid bankruptcy and become successful investors. What originally started as helpful advice to friends in the pro sports world led Cunningham on a path to become co-founder and general partner at Limited Ventures, an invite-only $150 million Miami-based venture firm.

Victoria Iworah Stokes β17 VSB started her entrepreneurial journey with the opening of Sugarberry Gifting Co LLC, an online curated gifting and reminder service offering ready-to-ship or customizable luxury gift boxes featuring keepsake gifts from female-led and POC (people of color)-owned brands.

Amy L. Gordon, CPA, β18 VSB rejoined the firm Belfint, Lyons and Shuman, P.A., as a supervisor in the firmβs Tax and Small Business department. She provides compliance and planning services to individuals, small businesses, estates and trusts, and nonprofits.
John Perna β18 VSB, owner of Hamilton Building Supply, was awarded Lumber and Building Material Dealer of the Year in a national trade magazine.

Timothy Abel β20 COE was named Philadelphia Young Civil Engineer of the Year for 2021 by the Philadelphia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers during a virtual ceremony on May 13.

Longest-Tenured Athletic Director Mourned
Remembered as a standout Villanova quarterback who later served 19 years as the Universityβs Director of Athletics, Ted Aceto, PhD, β63 CLAS, β65 MA, died July 1, 2021. He was 82.
Aceto led the Athletic Department from 1974 until 1993. During his tenure, Villanova entered the Big East conference in 1980 and won the NCAA Menβs Basketball championship in 1985. The Menβs Indoor Track and Field team and Womenβs Cross Country also won national championships in 1979 and 1989, respectively.
βIn the course of nearly two decades, Dr. Aceto guided our department into the modern era of college athletics. He was instrumental in bringing Villanova into the Big East and helping the conference quickly make its mark on the national scene,β says Villanova Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Jackson.
A student-athlete himself, Dr. Aceto attended Villanova on a football scholarship and was the Wildcatsβ quarterback for the teamβs appearances in the 1961 Sun Bowl and 1962 Liberty Bowl.
The Athletic Director's Conference Room in Jake Nevin Field House was renamed in honor of the Aceto family in 2019.
